Das Wetter der letzten Woche in Bremerhaven

Fantastisch. Warum geht mir das manchmal auch so, nur dass es nicht die (vor langem verblichene) Ur-Oma, geschweige denn Bremerhaven ist? 

Uroma erzählte mir, wie das Wetter der letzten Woche in Bremerhaven war, es dauerte eine Weile, bis ich verstand, worum es eigentlich ging. Sie hatte mit der weiteren Verwandtschaft in Bremerhaven telefoniert, dabei wurde mangels anderer Themen minutiös das Wetter der vergangenen Tage erörtert, das musste sie mir jetzt unbedingt erzählen, warum auch immer. Ich kenne keinen Menschen in Bremerhaven, genau genommen fällt mir zu Bremerhaven so ziemlich gar nichts ein und wie ich hörte, war das Wetter da auch nicht gerade spannend, eher grau und eintönig, kein Regen, aber auch keine Sonne, nicht sehr warm, aber auch nicht richtig kalt. Ich kann mir kaum ein langweiligeres Thema als das Wetter der letzten Woche in Bremerhaven vorstellen, dachte ich.

Oma schnitt weitere Stücke der selbstgebackenen Torte ab. Opa, Uropa und ich tranken ein Bier. Die Söhne fuhren mit Fahrrad und Bobbycar um den Kaffeetisch herum und angelten nach Proviant für die weiteren Erkundungsfahrten über den Hof und durch den noch kahlen Garten.

Ich kann mir kaum ein entspannenderes Thema als das Wetter der letzten Woche in Bremerhaven vorstellen, dachte ich, lehnte mich zurück und sah der alten Katze zu, die ihr Revier durchstreifte und dabei stoisch den jungen Hund ignorierte, der gerne mit ihr Fangen gespielt hätte.

Doch, ab und zu sollte man aufs Land fahren, keine Frage.

Winding up the year...

Hey, this was a busy year. I do not expect 2011 to be less busy, but probably with a more healthy travel schedule.

2010 had

  • 39 business travels
  • 69 nights in hotels on a total of 106 travel days, only 4 trips were one day only
  • Countries visited: Norway, Germany, Qatar, Ukraine, UK
  • not to mention private travels to Norway, Spain and in Germany

On my last trip to Oslo, the lady at the hotel reception identified me with my first name, which is sort of scary.

Totally unrelated, this was personally a sad year. My brother passed away after a long fight against cancer in April, short before his 39th birthday and my grandmother closed her circle of life end of September, having been 88 years. Also too many good people passed away within our friends families and we feel with all of them. I can only hope that the next year will be much better.
